What Is a Private 2-Day Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Fushimi Inari and More
Continuing from the previous day, I began Day 2 of a private Kyoto tour with guests from Europe. Since this was the second day, I skipped the basic explanation of Kyoto's history that I usually give and headed straight to Fushimi Inari Taisha by taxi. From early in the morning, we were all very friendly with one another. I don't usually do week-long domestic tours, but I imagined that doing so would surely allow a guide to become very close with the guests. The guests naturally spoke fluent British English, and when the conversation became a little complex, there were times I had to ask them to repeat themselves. I heard many valuable stories, and I hoped this trip would serve as a good rest for them. When I asked where and what they had eaten the previous night, they said that after we parted at Nishiki Market, they wandered a bit around the Sanjo area before returning to the Hotel, and being far too tired, they went straight to sleep without even having dinner. I said that anyone would be exhausted after traveling from a ski resort in Niseko, Hokkaido, and then walking around Kyoto so much the very next day, and they laughed. Even so, today we visited five places in six hours, so I think they were quite active. Since I had explained a great deal the day before, today's visits included not only new content but also a good amount of review from the previous day, which I believe helped deepen their understanding. There were moments when explanations connected together and the guests exclaimed, "Ah, so that's how it is!" After the tour, I received a message saying they had safely boarded the Shinkansen to Tokyo, that they would stay in Tokyo for a few days before returning home, and a word of thanks.

Hello, this is Kazu Akiyama, your tour guide. Nice to meet you and welcome to Japan. Thank you for joining me on the tour. Now I am a retired salaried worker, living in Osaka. I have been very much interested in not only learning Japanese history, culture, religion myself, but also talking about them (sometimes going off topics) in English with tourists from all over the world as well. I am so excited being with you as your guide on coming day! I am very much looking forward to you enjoying with me visiting the must-see places and some of the hidden gems. See you soon. Thank you – Kazu Akiyama

A wonderful day with Kazu san in Kyoto. From the moment that the tour was booked, his communication with email about planning the day was exceptional.
Kazu gave detailed explanations about the areas we visited and we appreciated all that he had to offer at each of our stops.
We thoroughly enjoyed our day with him.

Our guide in Kyoto was Kazu. By the end of the day, we felt like we had made a new friend.
Kazu helped us arrange the best day with our short time in Kyoto. He brought us to some “hidden gems” and gave us thorough explanations on history and culture.
I would highly recommend this tour.

Highly recommended when in Kyoto
Our tour guide Kazu was very knowledgeable in terms of the history and explaining many of
the wonderful ancient sites around Kyoto. Definitely a must! Otherwise, I think it would be
difficult to tourists to understand on their own.
