What Is a Private Fuji Five Lakes Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report from Oshino Hakkai
The guests were a group visiting from Europe. Since we had exchanged the itinerary by email in advance and reached agreement, the tour itself proceeded smoothly.
The group gave a somewhat reserved first impression, and at the meeting point they were initially rather distant, but as the tour went on and I included some jokes along the way, they gradually opened up.
At Oshino Hakkai I treated them to the local specialty kusa-mochi, and after lunch I bought them Yukimi Daifuku at a convenience store. By the second half of the tour, we were able to proceed in a warm and friendly atmosphere. When I gave them a set of chopsticks (five pairs with a Mount Fuji motif) as a souvenir, they were very pleased. They also greatly enjoyed the hoto lunch, telling me it was delicious and thanking me for bringing them there.
Working with the hired car driver, with whom I have a good rapport, we coordinated well and finished the tour with perfect time management. Although they were a little reserved at first, in the end I believe they were very satisfied.

We had a great time. Our guide Meiji “May” made our day memorable. Excellent sites and great food, May is very knowledgeable of the sites, has very good English and had very nice details during the tour. Ahh and he has all the nice spots for pictures identified. The restaurant he took us for lunch was excellent, we tried an amazing hoto udon.

We had an incredible time exploring Tokyo with our guide, May! He was friendly, engaging, and incredibly knowledgeable, making every stop interesting with fascinating stories and local insights. His enthusiasm for Tokyo was contagious, and he really helped us curate this tour to fit our interests and make it our own.
The tour was well organized and included a great mix of iconic sights and hidden gems that we never would have discovered on our own. May also shared excellent recommendations for restaurants, shopping, and things to do after the tour, which made the rest of our stay even better. He even remembered that we were celebrating our honeymoon and helped us celebrate in a very memorable way, making the tour that much more special.
