What Is a Private Guided Tour of Hiroshima and Miyajima Like? A Licensed Guide's Report

The guests were a group visiting from Oceania. Some of the guests enjoyed games and anime, which is why they chose to visit Hiroshima. At the memorial for the student soldiers, when I explained that "young people not much older than you were sent off to war and forced to give up their futures," the guests looked genuinely astonished. At Miyajima, I spoke about the differences between Shinto and Buddhism and the remarkable skill of traditional shrine carpenters, which impressed the guests greatly, and I was able to witness them picking up a rice scoop. That afternoon, it began to snow very heavily, and although I searched for a place on Miyajima where they could buy a jacket, I could not find one, so as an alternative I suggested, "Let's warm up with hot matcha and momiji manju in a cafe." This idea worked out well, and we managed to complete the day. During the drive, we shared stories about our homes and pets and memories from our school days, getting to know one another, and I enjoyed myself as well.
