What Is a Private Full-Day Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Fushimi Inari, Nijo Castle, and Sanjusangendo

The guests visited Japan from North America, and it was the first visit to Japan for one of them. Since their accommodation was deep in the Higashiyama area, the start time was changed to 9:30 and we met at Fushimi Inari. It was good that we were able to meet earlier than planned. It was another warm day, and we did not feel cold at all. The guests were cheerful and asked many questions. One of the guests worked in a field related to architecture and was interested in the buildings of shrines and temples. They told me that their home city is the eighth largest by population among cities in North America, with a larger population than another well-known city there. When we finished the tour at Sanjusangendo, one of the guests said, "You Japanese must be proud to have so much history and cultural heritage." I felt that this was true. From the subway Nijo Station to Nijo Castle we walked, and I introduced the old townscape along the way. From the subway Higashiyama Station to Sanjusangendo we used a taxi.
