- PM 13:00 Start at hotel
- Travel on foot to Kanazawa Castle Park
- PM 13:20-14:15 Visit Kanazawa Castle Park, Hishi Yagura, Gojukken Nagaya, Hashizumemon Tsuzuki Yagura
- PM 14:15-15:00 Visit Kenrokuen Garden
- Travel by bus to Korinbo
- PM15:30-16:30 Nagamachi Samurai District area, visit Nomura Family Residence
- Travel by bus to Omicho
- PM 17:00 Tour ends in front of the hotel
Title: What Is a Private Half-Day Samurai History Tour of Kanazawa Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests were a group visiting Japan from North America, with some visiting Japan for the first time. When we met, the guests were having lunch at their hotel, so we talked a little there before starting the tour. I had heard in advance that they wanted to learn about the samurai history of Kanazawa, so I was glad to be able to explain it to them on the spot. In the Nagamachi samurai district, we visited the Nomura Family Residence. Since we entered close to the 4:00 PM closing time, there were almost no other visitors, so the guests were able to look around at a relaxed pace and were very pleased. At the end, they asked for a recommendation for a restaurant for dinner, so I made a reservation, showed them the way, and the tour concluded. Yoshi is an exceptional guide where he took us to the best market stalls at the fish market where every food we indulged in (including the sea snails and eel liver) were superb. The walking tour of the tea houses (Geisha district) and knowledge of the history of both the precinct and greater Japan was first class. Yoshi is also a kind and caring person and made conversation very easy, including when we wanted to dig into the country’s cultural values and lifestyle

YOSHI met us at our hotel and was very friendly and helpful. We walked around the city and he took us to view several different spots including samurai living quarters, geisha houses, the beautiful garden built by Maeda san. Yoshi was knowledgeable about the entire city and it’s treasured history. He inspired me to do some reading on Maeda san, a leader who played a huge part in the development of the city. Yoshi was an excellent guide, and even provided a LOT of recommendations and useful information for after our tour. We would definitely recommend YOSHI san! Note: you will need a IC card to board some of the city buses.

We had a fab tour with Yoshi our guide, we visited the tea district then the gardens and castle which were my favourite. Yoshi was very informative , explaining the history and mechanisms of the castle was built and the water system. He was also very helpful with explaining the bus service.
