Title: What Is a Private Guided Walk on the Kumano Kodo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report

When the limited express train arrived at Kii-Tanabe Station, the guest was the last to step out. After finishing some shopping at the station convenience store, we boarded the bus and set off. We chatted about many things on the bus, including the places the guest had already visited and plans to meet family members arriving in Tokyo two days later. We transferred at Hongu, and when we arrived at Hosshinmon-oji it was a little chilly, but once we started walking the weather was fine and comfortable. Compared with the previous day, when part of the same course had been walked with about 50 to 60 people, it was far quieter and we could walk at a relaxed pace. The guest had been able to take a long holiday. Since the guest was collecting goshuin (temple and shrine stamps), we wanted to arrive while the shrine office was still open, so we walked a little faster in the latter half. Apart from hiking, the guest seemed to enjoy taking photographs and captured many scenic shots with an SLR camera. After finishing the walk and the visits, I accompanied the guest to the guesthouse and helped with check-in and arranging a taxi before ending the tour. The guest mentioned wanting to walk the Kumano Kodo again together with family.
