- 10:00 Meet up @ DoubleTree by Hilton Kyoto Higashiyama
- 10:20-11:20 Sightseeing at Kiyomizu-dera Temple
- 12:00-12:40 Lunch @ Gontaro Kinkakuji Store
- 12:50-13:30 Sightseeing at Kinkakuji Temple
- 14:00-15:20 Sightseeing at Arashiyama
- 16:00 Disband @ Near Nishiki Market
Tour Itinerary in Detail
Meeting at @ DoubleTree by Hilton Kyoto Higashiyama at 10:00, the group explored Kyoto until the tour ended at 16:00. The day ran to 6 hours from start to finish. It included lunch @ Gontaro Kinkakuji Store at 12:00.
The itinerary covered Sightseeing at Kiyomizu-dera Temple at 10:20, Sightseeing at Kinkakuji Temple at 12:50 and Sightseeing at Arashiyama at 14:00.
What's a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Kiyomizu-dera, Kinkaku-ji, and Arashiyama
[Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) guide led a private one-day Kyoto tour for a group visiting Kiyomizu-dera, Kinkaku-ji, and Arashiyama. At Kiyomizu-dera, to avoid the crowds, we used the so-called back-entrance route, entering and exiting from the Seikan-ji side. For lunch we stopped at Gontaro near Kinkaku-ji, where each person chose from soba and tempura in a calm, relaxed atmosphere. In Arashiyama, we walked from the Togetsukyo Bridge to Tenryu-ji Temple and through the Bamboo Grove Path. Finally, the group got off in front of Nishiki Market, and the tour ended right on schedule. We were blessed with fine weather, and I believe the guests fully enjoyed the autumn foliage of Kyoto.

Andy(Atsushi) was great and communicated with us beforehand about our itinerary. He was flexible with changes we requested. Andy was very informative during the tour. He also was willing to take our family’s pictures. We were able to stop and check out shops as we pleased along the way. He also accommodated lunch requests(as our daughter has food allergies).
One thing I wish we realized was that there is quite a bit of walking. We were fine but for people who are perhaps older or with young children you may want to consider taking a cab between different sites.

Andy Murao was an amazing and wonderful tour guide. He reached out to us with some ideas for our private tour. He worked with us as we made the tour perfectly suited to our needs. He met us on time. He navigated the crowds and the sites perfectly. He was very knowledgeable and we learned a lot. He even put together a nice photo collection of photos he emailed us after. Highly recommend.
