**Title:** What Is a Private Kumano Kodo Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report

**Body:**

8:00 Met the guests in front of the Hotel. After self-introductions and purchasing bento lunches, I gave guiding and an overview of the Kumano Kodo while waiting for the bus to depart.

We took a series of buses and began the walk from Hosshinmon-oji.

The guests were especially curious and showed interest even in the side paths along the way.

The village of Fushiogami had beautiful tea fields, and this year the persimmons were plentiful, creating a lovely landscape. I found some akebi that had ripened to just the right stage for eating, so I offered them a taste.

At Kozan-ji, there are many buildings symbolic of Japanese temples, which the guests found interesting.

This temple also has the Kozan-ji shell mound dating back nearly 10,000 years, as well as the graves of Minakata Kumagusu, who worked to protect the nature of Kumano, and Morihei Ueshiba, the founder of Aikido. Although there was no time to see them, the guests listened with great interest.

Bus fares were paid in cash for the round trip between Kii-Tanabe Station and Hongu Taisha-mae. Due to the crowds and significant delays at fare payment, I was unable to request a receipt. I am removing the two items of ¥2,100 each.

I grew up in the mountain village. I learned many things from my family, especially my grandmother. I can give you many interesting experiences in the wild nature. We eat wild strawberries or “Sukanpo ” the edible grass, fly ferns or cross a suspension bridge.
I walked all of Kumano Kodo, Koyasan pilgrimage roads and other ancient highways, total length is more than 600km ( 400 miles).
I want you to show the interesting spots beyond the guide book. Kii mountain range has old history as well as beautiful land scapes. I’ll take you the excellent places you can do Facebook bragging.
My experiences for guiding foreigners are, town of Koyasan, pilgrimage road to Koyasan, Kumano Kodo Nakahechi, hot springs, Shingu city and Nachi Katsuura town, Kushimoto area, Shirahama area so on.
I wish to meet you soon!
