Title: What Is a Private Day Tour of Sado Island (Toki Forest Park & Sado Gold Mine) Like? A Licensed Guide's Report

The weather was cloudy, and with an early morning departure, it was a slightly chilly day. On the way to Toki Forest Park, I explained the ecology of the crested ibis, and the driver also shared some local knowledge unique to the area. We were fortunate that one of the displayed ibis came close to the glass. Later, while driving, we were also able to spot six wild ibis in their natural habitat, and the guests were thrilled, delighted at this continued streak of good luck.

At "Kirarium Sado," we did some preliminary learning through a short video that clearly explained the history and features of the gold mine before heading to the Aikawa Gold Mine. Afterward, the guests praised the video as very well-made and easy to understand. At a photo spot along the way, we took a little more time than planned, but the guests happily took pictures.

At the Sodayu Shaft of the gold mine, one of the guests used a cane and took time going down the stairs inside the shaft with some difficulty, but as this was an active person, they said not to worry, which put me at ease. For those with some difficulty walking, I would not particularly recommend this route, as the descending shaft has steep and rather dark stairs.

For lunch at "Mochidaya," everyone ate a great deal, quite different from the previous time, likely because breakfast had been early. At the Kitazawa Flotation Plant, the guests were amazed to see the fantastical scenery and the site where large amounts of gold had once been produced.

After that, the impression left by the Aikawa Gold Mine seemed to be so strong—and with the rain at the Ameya Pier—that the guests decided there was no need to get out of the car, so we viewed it from the car window instead. Since the last two spots were rained on, we arrived at Ryotsu Port a bit earlier. At the terminal building there was a corner offering sake tasting, and the guests purchased two bottles together. It seemed they had thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Perhaps from all the walking inside the mine shaft, the guests appeared to rest soundly during the jetfoil ride back.
