What Can You See on a Private Full-Day Hiroshima and Miyajima Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report

The guests were a group from Oceania. They were a very cheerful group, smiling from the moment we met at Hiroshima Station, and we chatted a great deal throughout the tour. I had proposed an itinerary covering Miyajima and the Peace Memorial Park, but at the group's request we also included Hiroshima Castle and Shukkeien Garden. Today many people, including school excursion groups, were visiting Itsukushima Shrine, and the guests were delighted when I guided them to photo spots with fewer crowds. On the World Heritage Sea Route from Miyajima to the Peace Memorial Park, we were able to go out on the deck, and the guests said it was wonderful. Since Japanese cuisine was not quite to their taste, I made a reservation at an Italian restaurant, and they were very pleased with it as well. At the Peace Memorial Park, the guests were moved to tears in the museum. They took a great interest in Hiroshima's history, the atomic bombing, and the reconstruction, and asked many questions. At Hiroshima Castle we did not go inside but only took photos from the outside, and the guests were very happy to see the eucalyptus tree that survived the atomic bombing in the Ninomaru area. Shukkeien Garden was very beautiful, and the guests said it was the perfect view to conclude a day of much walking. At Hiroshima Station, the whole group thanked me politely, and they told me to come visit them in Oceania with my family next time.
