Title: What's a Private Kyoto Day Tour Like for a Group? A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests were a group visiting from Asia. As the tour was flexibly adjusted on the day, [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) guides are able to adapt the itinerary to suit each group's situation and requests.
The guests planned to travel from Osaka to the Kawaramachi-Shijo area by Hankyu train, so the meeting point was set at a hotel nearby. As the guests requested that the originally scheduled 10:30 start be pushed back by 15 minutes, the tour was set to begin at 10:45 and end at 16:45. (This time was also reflected in advance on the website above.)
Originally, in planning the itinerary for this tour, we had scheduled the Kiyomizu-dera area, Fushimi Inari, and Kinkaku-ji together with the guests. However, at the start of the tour, because some of the group preferred a lighter pace and the guests also wished to do some shopping, the schedule was changed on short notice. It was revised to a stroll around the Kiyomizu area, Fushimi Inari, and Gion.
At Kiyomizu, rather than entering the temple itself, we turned back and set aside about 30 minutes for shopping along Sannenzaka.
Also, since a round trip to Kinkaku-ji seemed difficult in terms of time, after discussing with the guests, we switched to a stroll around Gion. As the temperature rose in the afternoon, I also arranged a coffee break in Gion for rest.
This time, after the tour began, I proceeded with the tour while making significant changes to match the guests' situation and requests.

Kyoto temple tour
Our Kyoto guided tour (Aioi Michiharu) was a great way to see some of the city’s most famous sights. The itinerary was well organized, starting with a convenient hotel pickup before visiting Fushimi Inari Taisha. Walking through the thousands of red torii gates was a memorable experience, and our guide shared interesting background about the shrine that added helpful context.
We then explored the Kiyomizu area, including Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Yasaka Pagoda, and Yasaka Koshindo Temple. The route offered a nice mix of historic landmarks, traditional streets, and scenic viewpoints. There was enough time at each stop to take photos and enjoy the surroundings without feeling rushed.
What really made this tour special was our guide’s knowledge, friendliness, and enthusiasm. He provided interesting cultural insights, recommended local foods and hidden photo spots, and made sure everyone in the group was comfortable throughout the day.

Michi was an excellent tour guide! He was very knowledgeable about the history of all the sites we visited, was able to answer all of core questions, and knew where to find cold water when we were all thirsty! We really enjoyed our whole 4 hour tour.
