Title: What's a Private Guided Day Tour of Hiroshima and Miyajima Like? A Licensed Guide's Report

I guided a group visiting from Europe. They spoke English very fluently, so we were able to communicate very clearly and easily. During the tour, I talked about the history of how a ship reached Tanegashima in the 16th century and introduced firearms to Japan, as well as Japanese words derived from that European language, such as "pan" (bread), "korokke" (croquette), and "castella" sponge cake. When I shared my experience of attending a concert of Fado, a traditional style of music from that region, the guests were delighted. Refunding tickets at the ticket office took some time, so our departure from Hiroshima Station ended up being at 11:00. At Miyajima, the guests asked me questions about why it is called an island of the gods and about the great torii gate standing in the sea. At the Peace Memorial Museum, they listened intently to my personal experiences as a second-generation atomic bomb survivor, and also asked about how it affected my health over time. Because the guests had a train reservation departing at 5:15 p.m., there was no time for lunch, so we ended the tour in time to catch the train.
