Kyoto in Half a Day: Kiyomizu-dera Temple — Guide Michi

Tour Itinerary
- 8:30 Hotel Meet (@Mecure Kyoto Station)
- 8:30-9:20 Travel (city bus; Kyoto Station → Gojozaka)
- 9:20-10:30 Visit Kiyomizu-dera Temple
- 10:30-10:50 Travel (city bus: Gion → Higashiyama Shichijo)
- 10:50:11:40 Visit Sanjusangendo
- 11:40 The tour ended after visiting Sanjusangendo.
- (The customer became unwell. Originally, we had planned to visit Fushimi Inari Taisha after this,
- but the customer requested to cancel it and return to the hotel, so we ended the tour early.
- We escorted the customer to the taxi stand in front of Sanjusangendo and parted ways.

The guests were a group visiting from Oceania. I took them to Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Sanjusangendo Temple. We had planned to continue to Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine afterward, but one of the guests began to feel unwell after visiting Sanjusangendo and requested to end the tour early and return to the hotel. I accompanied the group to the taxi stand at Sanjusangendo and said goodbye there.
The tour started at 8:30, but it turned into a walking tour in severe heat from early in the morning, and combined with the fatigue of a long journey, I believe that is why one of the guests felt unwell. The group returned to the hotel together. One good thing was that the guests were able to buy many of the long-desired protective charms at Sanjusangendo.

Kyoto temple tour
Our Kyoto guided tour (Aioi Michiharu) was a great way to see some of the city’s most famous sights. The itinerary was well organized, starting with a convenient hotel pickup before visiting Fushimi Inari Taisha. Walking through the thousands of red torii gates was a memorable experience, and our guide shared interesting background about the shrine that added helpful context.
We then explored the Kiyomizu area, including Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Yasaka Pagoda, and Yasaka Koshindo Temple. The route offered a nice mix of historic landmarks, traditional streets, and scenic viewpoints. There was enough time at each stop to take photos and enjoy the surroundings without feeling rushed.
What really made this tour special was our guide’s knowledge, friendliness, and enthusiasm. He provided interesting cultural insights, recommended local foods and hidden photo spots, and made sure everyone in the group was comfortable throughout the day.

Michi our guide was excellent! Great communication before the tour and laid out an entire day for us. Was very accommodating and understood when the heat got to us and needed to take a break. He was very knowledgeable and gave us great pieces of information about the beautiful city of Kyoto. Would highly recommend the tour and Michi!!

Michi was an excellent tour guide! He was very knowledgeable about the history of all the sites we visited, was able to answer all of core questions, and knew where to find cold water when we were all thirsty! We really enjoyed our whole 4 hour tour.
