Can You Do a Private Family Tour of Hiroshima and Miyajima? A Licensed Guide's Report

I guided a group visiting from North America.

The first destination was Okinawa. One of the guests had previously stayed there, which was the reason they chose Okinawa.

The tour was originally scheduled to start at 11:00, but considering the finishing time, I requested changing the start to 10:00.

On Miyajima, one of the guests enjoyed collecting temple and shrine stamps and stood in a long line at the shrine. In front of the sake barrels displayed at the shrine, I explained the difference between the brewing methods of wine and Japanese sake, that Hiroshima is one of Japan's three great sake-producing regions, and that Hiroshima sake was served during the U.S. President's visit to Japan in 2016. As the guests were interested, I guided them to a shop offering sake tasting, and after tasting, they purchased three bottles of Japanese sake, including the brand that had been served to the President.

One of the guests also chose chopsticks that convey a sense of Japanese culture as a souvenir for a superior, and used a name-engraving service.

At the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, the guests toured very attentively and were particularly astonished by the fact that, as a result of over 100 atmospheric nuclear tests conducted by the United States, many people were also exposed to radiation.
