- 10:30 Tsukiji Outer Market, Namiyoke Shrine, Higashi Honganji Temple
- 12:00 Imperial Palace, Nijubashi Bridge front
- 13:00 Meiji Shrine
- 14:30 Tour ends at JR Shinagawa Station
What Can You See on a Private Cultural Day Tour of Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report
Having arrived two days earlier and already explored Skytree and Asakusa the previous day, the guests requested a change from the originally planned course, so the tour focused mainly on introducing them to Japanese culture. [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) is one of Japan's largest networks of government-licensed, English-speaking private tour guides, serving all 47 prefectures.
We first headed to Tsukiji Market, where the guests took in its unique atmosphere amid the bustling crowds. After that, I took them to Namiyoke Shrine and Tsukiji Hongwanji Temple, where I explained the differences between Shinto and Buddhism, the influence each has had on Japanese culture, and the different ways of worship at shrines and temples. They were delighted, saying they now understood well why Japan's streets are so clean, which they had noticed the day before, and how Japanese culture shapes daily life.
Next, at the Imperial Palace and Nijubashi Bridge, I explained the origins and history of Edo Castle and the Imperial family, helping them understand how it all connects to the present day.
Finally, we headed to Meiji Shrine, where we happened to come across a wedding procession, and the guests were deeply moved by this distinctly Japanese ceremony.
At the end, I took them to JR Shinagawa Station, the nearest station to their hotel, and the tour concluded.

Highly recommend this tour for first time visit to Tokyo. Our guide Atsushi took great care to acclimate us with navigating through busy train stations efficiently with a group of eight family members. Along the way and at each site he explained various cultural practices and associated histories that made the tour very immersive and enjoyable. Best Tour for a Short Visit
Atsushi-san was an incredibly well-researched and friendly tour guide. His knowledge allowed us to explore and get to the historical significance of the various locations we visited. His explanations were simple but comprehensive. The six hours flew by and included some off-the-beaten opportunities including coffee at a very austere but memorable location near the fish market. I would highly recommend him as well as this tour for anyone with limited time in Tokyo wanting see as much as possible

Our guide, Atsushi, was great! He met us at our hotel in Hakone and took us clockwise to tour all the sites. He was informative and taught us a lot. Our group was two adults and a 14 year old. We saw Mt Fuji from the rope way, but unfortunately the pirate ship was canceled because of high wind. We would absolutely use Atsushi again for this tour, or any other tour he provides.
