What Is a Private Kobe Cruise Port Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
Today's guests were first-time visitors to Japan from North America. We met at the Kobe Port Terminal, visited the Kobe Nunobiki Herb Gardens and Nankinmachi, and ended the tour at a café near Nankinmachi.
According to the original itinerary, after the Nunobiki Herb Gardens we were to visit Sorakuen Garden, then go through Nankinmachi and the Motomachi Shopping Street, and finish the tour at the shuttle bus stop bound for the Kobe Port Terminal.
However, the day was hot and humid following rain. One of the guests took time to walk and was sweating heavily. As the guests requested, we skipped Sorakuen Garden, headed to the shuttle bus stop, and ended the tour at a nearby café. The guests were in good spirits, and when I asked for their impressions of the tour, they said it had been "hot."

Our delightful guide, Norio, was knowledgeable and a master at train negotiation! A highlight of the tour was the Herb Garden and Ropeway visit. The Sake Brewery and Museum was interesting with fabulous explanation from Norio combined with outstanding exhibits and tastings! He then left us to wander at our leisure in Chinatown.

We learnt lots about Himeji castle and it was very interesting. The gardens were beautiful and it was great to see all the Koi fish. Norio made sure to take us to the best places and even took us to a great local sake place we asked for 🙂
