Title: What's a Private Kyoto Day Tour Like on a Rainy Day? A Licensed Guide's Report

The guests were a group visiting Kyoto for the first time from North America. The tour originally planned to first take the guests to the Iwatayama Monkey Park, then stroll around Arashiyama (Togetsukyo Bridge, Kameyama Park, the bamboo grove, and the Tenryu-ji temple garden), followed by visits to Ryoan-ji and Kinkaku-ji. The weather forecast before the tour predicted heavy rain, and indeed it was raining hard before the tour began, so while waiting I was also considering changing the tour with alternative destinations. Fortunately, the rain stopped right at the start time of the tour, so we were able to go up to the Monkey Park as planned, and the group was delighted to see the monkeys. After lunch, to avoid the rain, we switched to a taxi to travel from the restaurant to Ryoan-ji. Among the group, some enjoyed Ryoan-ji and the Monkey Park most, while others especially liked either Ryoan-ji or the Monkey Park. Although I had been worried about heavy rain, we managed to carry out the tour while avoiding the worst of it. I was especially relieved that it did not rain heavily at the Monkey Park.
