Title: What's a Private Tokyo Day Tour Like? Asakusa, Yanaka, Shibuya, and Ginza With a Licensed Guide
The guests were a group visiting from Europe. Before the tour, they had mentioned an interest in visiting a game arcade and a used flute shop. I recommended some flute retailers in areas such as Ginza and Ochanomizu, but in the end the group decided that they would research the arcade themselves and visit both the arcade and the used flute shop on separate days. At our meeting point, I confirmed the itinerary again and we started the tour.
With rain coming and going and occasional strong winds, I guided the group through Nakamise Street and Sensoji Temple, including their historical background, even though the guests had already visited them the previous day. After showing them some other shopping streets and recommending places to eat, we moved on to Yanaka. Since I had provided information and links about public transportation such as PASMO/Suica and one-day passes in advance, the guests had already purchased a PASMO card.
Perhaps because it was before opening hours, the weather was poor, and it was the last day of a three-day weekend, the shopping street was sparsely populated with tourists, aside from the long lines in front of "Himitsudo" and the gelato shop "asatte." Hebi-michi (Snake Alley) was similarly quiet, so we did not stop there. After guiding the group to Nezu Shrine, home to a nationally designated Important Cultural Property, and Otome Inari Shrine with its rows of torii gates, we headed to Shibuya. After taking photos at the famous crossing and the Hachiko statue, we moved on to Ginza.
I guided the group to a cafe they had wanted to visit. As they had arrived in Japan only the day before, they were likely tired. They said they wanted to take a break right away, and that in Ginza they only wished to visit UNIQLO/GU on their own after the cafe, so it would be fine to end the tour earlier than the scheduled time. When we parted, the group unexpectedly gave me a lovely pouch printed with tourist information about their home area, which I gratefully accepted, and we said goodbye with smiles.

Hi! I’m a local guide in Tokyo and have been working as a licensed tour guide for almost 10 years. I love helping guests discover the “real Japan” beyond the guidebooks. I enjoy showing guests both famous sights and places that many tourists miss. My tours are based on your interests and can include not only famous sightseeing spots, but also local neighborhoods, culture, history, and everyday life in Japan. I also help guests enjoy Japanese cultural activities and make communication easier. If you’d like vegan or gluten-free meals, let me help you find suitable restaurants in Tokyo. If you have any food allergies or dietary restrictions, please feel free to let me know in advance. I look forward to showing you around Tokyo!

I would definitely recommend this tour. Our guide Tachi was so helpful in showing us around and answering all our questions. It was a great idea to do this on the first day since we covered most of the popular cultural sights and areas with her leaving the ret of our days for other specific interests.

Wonderful tour of the highlights of Tokyo
Tachi was our guide. What a wonderful experience. She communicated very effectively before our departure to plan a very nice tour around the city. On the day of departure, it was raining very heavily in Tokyo and we considered rescheduling, but went ahead anyway. She met us at our hotel just as planned and set out on a very nice tour that visited all the sites we wanted to see. We used the subway system to move about the city. We we very happy with the tour and would book with her again in the future if we return to Tokyo. Hint: download PASMO to your phone to pay for subway rides.
