I guided a group visiting Takayama, where the places they wanted to see had been listed in advance. From 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm, we walked around each spot while I interpreted, covering both their list and some places I suggested. It was their first time in Japan, and none of the guests spoke Japanese, yet they were planning to rent a car and make a round trip from Tokyo to Kyoto, which surprised me. They said they would be fine because they had Google Translate, but they were amazed that there were hardly any English speakers around town or wherever they went. They had just arrived from North America the day before, so by the end they seemed quite tired. We were able to cover the main spots in Takayama thoroughly, and they were very pleased.

Yoko gave us a wonderful tour of the city. Although the Toyota museum was closed, he offered a very nice alternative samauri museum for us to visit. He also took us to a shrine and let us try a traditional Nagoya fried pork meal which was outstanding. Wonderful, wonderful day! Thank you, Yoko, for making our trip special!

If you are on a cruise, this is the excursion for you. Half the price of the same excursion that the ship offers, and iwe had a personalized experience instead of being in a large group off the ship. Our guide, Yoko, was kind, knowledgeable, and accommodating. He allowed to pick our sites and then gave us lots of history during the tour. 10/10 recommend
