What's a Private 6-Hour Kyoto Walking Tour Like in Summer? A Licensed Guide's Report

The guests were a group visiting from North America. Some of the guests had previously spent time living in Japan years ago and had visited Kyoto several times before. This time they came to Japan to celebrate a graduation.

The tour took place under a blazing sun with temperatures reaching 36°C. It was a 6-hour non-stop tour with no car transportation and no lunch arrangement. I guided the group to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine, Nijo Castle, and the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove. We finished the tour as scheduled at 14:00, and I handed them a route map for their way back before saying goodbye at the bamboo grove. Some of the guests said they especially enjoyed Kiyomizu-dera Temple (with its cliff-side construction), while others said they liked Nijo Castle best.
