Title: What Can You See on a Private Tsukiji, Shibuya, and Harajuku Walking Tour in Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report

The guests were a family from South America. Although everyone spoke English, they always conversed in their own language among themselves, so at times it felt difficult to strike up conversation.

They seemed interested in Tsukiji, so I guided them there first. One of the guests purchased a kitchen knife, and some of the guests had hearty appetites and enjoyed items such as steamed pork buns and sushi before lunch, so we ended up staying there longer than planned. In Shibuya, I used a restaurant inside Tokyu Plaza for lunch for the first time. Many of the restaurants in Mark City and Shibuya Stream are often crowded, and the ones in Scramble Square tend to be pricey, so I had been looking for other good options, and I found Tokyu Plaza to be a hidden gem. Perhaps because it is on a somewhat higher floor, many restaurants there are relatively empty on weekdays, and I would like to try it again next time.

After finishing the tour of Takeshita Street, some of the guests wanted to shop at Nike Harajuku, so we parted ways there.

Hi. My name is Masafumi Miyazaki. Please call me “Sam”. I am a government-licensed guide.
I was born in Tokyo and was raised in the suburbs of Tokyo called Tama area. When I was in university, I majored in western dramas, so I am good at playing like an actor.
I like reading, listening to the music, and walking. I belong to several walking clubs, and sometimes I guide the members around Tokyo.
One of my strengths as a guide is that I know well about kombu, Japanese kelps. In December every year, I work at a traditional kombu shop in Tsukiji Fish Market. At that shop, I learned a lot of things related to kombu or other ingredients for washoku. I can explain the different characteristics of them to you.
Also, I am familiar with Japanese flowers and plants. If you stroll around a Japanese garden with me, I am sure you will be able to enjoy beautiful flowers and unique plants in every season.
I look forward to meeting you. Thank you.
