Hello, I’m Masa, a licensed national guide based in Tokyo.
I live near Otsuka, just minutes from Ikebukuro—one of Tokyo’s largest and most vibrant districts. For over 20 years, I worked at a U.S. company, during which I informally guided many international colleagues through Tokyo and beyond.
My tours focus on authentic local experiences. I specialize in Tokyo’s traditional downtown areas such as Asakusa and Yanaka (my hometown), as well as nearby historic destinations like Kamakura, Nikko, and Kawagoe.
I also offer unique cultural and seasonal experiences, including:
* Exploring hidden “Shitamachi” neighborhoods
* Visiting UNESCO-listed festivals such as the Chichibu Night Festival
* Hands-on activities like soba noodle making
As someone who loves both nature and culture, I can combine sightseeing with light hiking. For example, in Kamakura, we can walk scenic trails connecting Zen temples, or in Nikko, enjoy breathtaking nature alongside World Heritage sites.
If you’re looking to experience both the cultural depth and natural beauty of Japan—beyond typical tourist routes—I would be happy to guide you.
I look forward to welcoming you to Japan.
