What Does a Private Kyoto Day Tour Cover? A Licensed Guide's Report on Kiyomizu-dera, Fushimi Inari, and Kinkaku-ji

The guests were a group visiting from North America. It was their first time in Japan, and they came to Kyoto after sightseeing in Tokyo. I took the group to Kiyomizu-dera, Fushimi Inari Taisha, and Kinkaku-ji. In contrast to the heavy rain the day before, the tour took place on a perfect day for sightseeing. However, the JR railroad crossing just before Fushimi Inari did not open for a long time, seemingly due to some kind of accident, and there was heavy traffic congestion before the crossing. We got out of the car and waited for the crossing to open, but as a result we lost a significant amount of time, about 15 minutes. Fushimi Inari and Kinkaku-ji afterward were also more crowded than usual. Although it was crowded, all of the guests said they liked the magnificent Kinkaku-ji the best. I was worried about a major delay to the tour due to the trouble at the JR railroad crossing before Fushimi Inari, but we somehow managed to finish the tour right on time.
