Tour Itinerary in Detail
This private tour of Tochigi began at 8:00, when the guide met the guests at hotel, and finished at 14:10. The day ran to 6 hours and 10 minutes from start to finish. It included lunch at 13:00.
From there the group visited Kegon Falls at 8:20, Board taxi at the hotel at 9:00, Toshogu Shrine at 9:30, Rinnoji Temple at 11:40, Shinkyo Bridge at 12:40 and Board taxi from Shinkyo Bridge at 13:40.

Although it rained throughout the day, starting early in the morning when the rain was light meant we were not troubled by it. Apart from Kegon Falls, we took our time exploring the shrine and temple area of Nikko. The guest was one person visiting Japan, who came to Nikko alone. The guest had an interest in religion and was very pleased with the detailed explanations of the shrines and temples of Nikko. The guest listened attentively to explanations about the historical syncretism of Shinto and Buddhism, the Meiji-era edict separating Shinto and Buddhism, and how Mount Nikko was affected by it.

Our guide was called Hit Suzuki and we couldn’t have wished for anyone better. The whole experience was fantastic from start to finish and Hit had so many incredible stories to tell that helped bring the tour to life. I would highly recommend this to anyone who would like to spend a day in Nikko and learn more about the history of Japan and of this sacred place. The tour lasted six hours but Hit made it so interesting, that it could have gone on for another six! Thank you for a really special day!

We had an awesome time on our private tour in Nikko. Our tour guide Hit was incredibly knowledgeable and a great tour guide. We learned a lot about Japan’s history that we wouldn’t have otherwise learned. Nikko was beautiful and Hit did a great job making sure we saw all of the spots we wanted to. Definitely recommend this tour!
