Tour Itinerary

  • 9:30: Meet at the hotel
  • 10:00: Purchase tickets at the Seven-Eleven inside Kyoto Station
  • 10:30: Nishijin Textile Center
  • 11:30: Guided tour of Kinkaku-ji Temple
  • 13:30: Lunch @ "Omen"
  • 14:45: Guided tour of Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine
  • 16:00: Disband @ the hotel

Title: What's a Private Day Tour of Kyoto Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Kinkaku-ji, Nishijin, and Fushimi Inari

I met the guests at their hotel on time and confirmed the day's itinerary (Nishijin Textile Center – Kinkaku-ji – ninja/samurai experience – Fushimi Inari). The guests were very pleased when I helped them purchase tickets for the Kyoto Railway Museum, which they had wished to visit, at a convenience store. After that, we drove to the Railway Museum to confirm its location, and then moved on to the Nishijin Textile Center. There the guests enjoyed viewing kimono and the various processes of Nishijin weaving, and were also able to purchase some souvenirs. From the Nishijin Textile Center we moved to Kinkaku-ji, and the guests enjoyed the temple, which was full of many tourists. There, one of the guests realized that a wallet had been left behind at the Nishijin Textile Center. When I called the center to check, it turned out that the wallet had been handed in at the reception, so we hurried back to the center and were able to retrieve it. The guest was greatly relieved and delighted, remarking that "only in Japan" would this happen. For lunch, the guests enjoyed udon at a restaurant near Pontocho, and finally I guided them briskly through Fushimi Inari Taisha before we parted ways at the hotel.

After a rather long teaching experience at Japanese college, I converted my career about 6 years ago into working as a tour guide for the tourists visiting Japan.
As my career overseas, I’ve been in the UN and the Japanese Embassy, all in the USA, totaling more than 6 years.
And then I had made a big change in my career from a diplomat to an academic researcher. For that career to achieve, I studied abroad and won a doctorate degree in linguistics from Indiana University and landed a teaching position at college in Japan.
