What's a Private Tokyo Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on the Imperial Palace, Ameyoko, and a Traditional Dinner

I guided a group visiting from North America. The day before the tour, their agent informed us that they had booked a car, and it took considerable effort to confirm that it was not an unlicensed taxi. The guests also requested a change to the itinerary, saying they had already seen many shrines. [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) confirmed that the car was not an unlicensed taxi, and the day itself went smoothly. When adjusting the route, I suggested Tokyo Tower, but they said they did not want to climb it. After meeting them, I asked why, and it turned out they had grown tired of climbing all the stairs at Nagoya Castle. When I explained there was an elevator, they said they would like to go up, so we headed there after the Imperial Palace. Since it was not crowded, we finished earlier than planned and went to Ameyoko. At a confectionery shop, they decided to buy the chocolate I had recommended, and then found the wasabi beans they had been looking for, and it was heartwarming to see how excited they were. There was a little time before the dinner reserved with a traditional Japanese dance performance, so I tried to take them to the food floor of a department store, but it closed exactly at 7:30 and we could not get in. I had thought it was open until 8:00, which was unfortunate. This time, every time we spotted a shrine, someone would say "no more shrine," which brought laughter. I safely escorted them to the restaurant, and the tour came to an end.
