What Is a Private Himeji Castle Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report

Today's guests were a group visiting Japan for the first time from North America. We met in front of the central ticket gate at Himeji Station and toured Castle View, Himeji Castle, Koko-en Garden, and the rooftop of Egret Himeji, where we finished the tour on the Egret Himeji rooftop.

Because the tour started early at 9:00 a.m. and it was a weekday before the Himeji Castle Festival, there were few tourists (although the number of visitors was steadily increasing by the time we left the main keep). In addition, since the guests seemed to be strong walkers, today we also visited the West Bailey and the Hyakken Corridor, which are not usually included. Touring everything, including the Hyakken Corridor and the main keep, can be a little tiring, but the guests remained energetic. Although the guests gave a relatively quiet impression, they clearly enjoyed the tour, taking many photos at every stop.
