What's a Private Day Tour of Tokyo Like for First-Time Visitors? A Licensed Guide's Report

The guests were visiting from North America. They arrived the day before the tour and had joined a Shinjuku night tour that evening.

On the day of the tour, I had originally planned to guide them around the Shinjuku area, but since it turned out they had already been there the previous day, we changed the plan. Instead, I helped them purchase Shinkansen tickets to Kyoto at Shinjuku Station.

The guests had traveled abroad extensively, and although this was their first time in Japan, they had researched thoroughly online in advance. They wanted to be able to use public transportation on their own going forward, so I guided them to various places by train and subway.

After visiting Asakusa, we had planned to go to Meiji Shrine, but since they said they wanted to go to Shimokitazawa, I changed the plan on the spot and guided them around Shimokitazawa. Along the way, I also showed them the transparent restroom near Yoyogi Park. It should be noted that the transparent restroom does not become transparent during the winter. We parted ways with the guests at Yoyogi-Hachiman Station, ending the tour. They were a very pleasant and wonderful group to guide.

I’m Yoko Kusumoto, a government lisenced English-speaking guide.
I have been living in Tokyo for more than 20 years, and it’s my pleasure to show you around Tokyo. I recommend Meiji Shrine and Asakusa if you are first time in Japan. I also recommend off-the-beaton path spots like Fukagawa Fudodo and Gotokuji Temple(lucky cat temple).
I was born and brought up in Kamakura, where the first shogun’s government was established. It will be my pleasure to introduce you my hometown as well.

I live with my husband and one teenage son.
I like traveling, flowers, sewing, quilting, scrapbooking, and exploring Tokyo.

I’m looking forward to hearing from you soon.
