What Is a Private Car Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Asakusa, Tsukiji, Meiji Shrine, Harajuku, Shibuya, and Akihabara
The guests were a group visiting from Asia. The tour was conducted using a car arranged by a friend of theirs living in Japan. The driver was not familiar with the roads in central Tokyo, so as the guide I helped input the destinations into Google Maps, and during pickup we coordinated the location using a messaging app. We visited Asakusa, Tsukiji, Meiji Shrine, Harajuku, Shibuya, and Akihabara. Regarding the Imperial Palace, I explained it from the car window along Uchibori-dori while on the way to Asakusa. Since travel by car went smoothly, I believe the guests were able to enjoy sightseeing and shopping at a relaxed pace at each location. Because we spent more time than planned in Harajuku and Shibuya, there was not enough time to shop fully in Akihabara, but the guests mentioned they would visit again during their stay.

Our guide, Harry, did an excellent job of showing us around Tokyo. He helped us navigate the train and subway systems. Had an excellent Japanese lunch and stopped at good local shopping venues. Harry also arranged which order we should do things in since I didn’t know how far apart the attractions we wanted to see were from each other. No way we could have navigated on our own, very pleased, highly recommend.
