What's a Private Walking Tour of Asakusa, Ueno, and Yanaka Like? A Licensed Guide's Report

I guided guests visiting from Europe. They mentioned they wanted to have a matcha latte, so we stopped by a tea shop we passed in Asakusa and sat down to chat. The guests were very interested in Japan and asked me about many things, such as wabi-sabi and geisha. At Ueno Toshogu Shrine, the peony garden was open, and since one of the guests' favorite flower is the peony and it was also used in their wedding bouquet, we went in. My guide license could not be used, so I offered to wait outside, but they kindly paid for me as well. The guests loved the town of Yanaka, and when I recommended Yanaka senbei, they bought one. At Isetatsu, they purchased woodblock prints depicting cherry blossoms and autumn leaves to hang on their wall. Nezu Shrine was holding its azalea festival, and although it was not as crowded as the previous day, many people were visiting. There was a line in front of the thousand torii gates, so we gave up on that, but they took photos in front of the azaleas in full bloom and were delighted.
