The itinerary covered Travel to Koyasan at 8:10, Travel to Okunoin by bus at 10:47, Explore Okunoin at 11:00, Kongobuji Temple, entrance only at 13:15, Danjo Garan at 13:25, Travel to Koyasan Station at 14:01, Travel to Shin-Imamiya at 14:23 and or so, confirm the train back to Osaka and disband at 16:27.

Travel between the sites was by public transport: Osaka to Shin-Imamiya by train (200JPY); Shin-Imamiya, including Koyasan area bus, World Heritage Ticket to Koyasan by train (3,540JPY). Across 2 sections the fare came to 3,740JPY per person.

What Is a Private Day Trip to Koyasan (Mount Koya) from Osaka Like? A Licensed Guide's Report

[Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) guide led a private day trip to Koyasan (Mount Koya) for guests visiting Japan.

We had hoped to ride the limited express Koya train, but since one of the guests was communicating something at the front desk, our departure was delayed and we ended up taking the next train. There were no reserved seats, and since it was still a limited express, we only arrived about 20 minutes later, but those were precious 20 minutes.

The guests took many photos on the cable car and at Okunoin, enjoying the unique scenery. Because I wanted them to spend the time as leisurely as possible, we took our time at Okunoin, then carefully checked the bus schedules, sightseeing until the last possible moment. I called ahead to the restaurant to have them prepare early, so the guests were also able to enjoy shojin ryori (Buddhist vegetarian cuisine).

At Kongobuji, I gave an explanation at the entrance only and we went inside just the Konpon Daito pagoda. We boarded the bus in front of the Kondo hall and returned in time for dinner at their hotel. Since the guests said they could make their way back to Osaka Station on their own, we confirmed the train platform and times in front of the JR line before parting ways.

The guests enjoyed the background knowledge shared on the train on the way to Koyasan, and they mentioned that on the return train they would "review" the places they had visited and write them down in their journals.

Hi! I’m an official English guide in Wakayama prefecture. I’m also a national guide as well. I’d like to expand my guide area to help tourists.
The town of Osaka offers a different atmosphere than Tokyo. I like both exciting Osaka and nature-filled Wakayama Prefecture.
If you stay in Osaka for 3 days, you can go to Koyasan for one day, or even for a day trip, so I recommend sightseeing at Koyasan.
If you are tired of the hustle and bustle of the big city, the nature of Koyasan will relax you.
I will introduce you to the unique culture, history and must-see sights.
