What's a Private Day Tour of Tokyo Like for Anime and Character Fans? A Licensed Guide's Report
**Body:**
[Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) guide led a private day tour of Tokyo for a group visiting from Europe. In advance, the guests had requested information for an anime fan and a visit to places suited to a fan of character goods, and they accepted the itinerary I proposed. One of the guests, who works in the travel industry, had visited Japan once before.
At the meeting point, it became clear we would not make the final entry time for the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace, so I suggested they visit there on their own another day, and instead proposed guiding them around Yanaka today, which they accepted, and we began the tour.
I had recommended in advance that they bring student ID for discounts, but it had not been brought along, so after confirming they were fine with the adult admission fee, we purchased tickets for Shinjuku Gyoen and spent a relaxed hour enjoying the cherry blossoms.
After a break at a Starbucks in Shibuya, and anticipating some shopping, I first guided them to KIDDY LAND in Omotesando. We then walked to Takeshita Street in Harajuku, where the guests wished to enter a dog cafe that was holding a pre-opening, and we stayed there for about 30 minutes. While moving between locations, I shared recommendations for anime shops and cultural experiences via a messaging app.
We also viewed the cherry blossoms at Yanaka shopping street and the cemetery, and finished at Asakusa. As we were right on time, I explained via a messaging app how to get back to the hotel, and we parted ways at Asakusa Station on the Ginza Line.

I would definitely recommend this tour. Our guide Tachi was so helpful in showing us around and answering all our questions. It was a great idea to do this on the first day since we covered most of the popular cultural sights and areas with her leaving the ret of our days for other specific interests.

Wonderful tour of the highlights of Tokyo
Tachi was our guide. What a wonderful experience. She communicated very effectively before our departure to plan a very nice tour around the city. On the day of departure, it was raining very heavily in Tokyo and we considered rescheduling, but went ahead anyway. She met us at our hotel just as planned and set out on a very nice tour that visited all the sites we wanted to see. We used the subway system to move about the city. We we very happy with the tour and would book with her again in the future if we return to Tokyo. Hint: download PASMO to your phone to pay for subway rides.
