What Is a Private Guided Tour of Hiroshima and Miyajima Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
This was a tour requested through a travel agency for guests visiting from Asia.
The guests were very interested in the Peace Memorial Park and listened carefully to my explanations. Since one member of the group had difficulty with stairs, we walked at a slower pace and used elevators where possible. Sensing their interest in history, I also guided them to the hypocenter and the Rest House.
They had come from Tokyo and started early in the morning, so they were hungry and looking forward to lunch. At a reserved Indian restaurant, they enjoyed curry.
Afterward, we took the World Heritage Sea Route to Miyajima. On the boat, they dozed off a little.
At first, the guests did not know much about Miyajima and did not seem very interested, but once we arrived they took many photos, touched the deer, and enjoyed themselves. It was very crowded, with a long line in front of the shrine, so they decided not to go inside. Instead, we visited Senjokaku and went in to look around. One member of the group who could not climb up rested nearby.
In the shopping street, they enjoyed fried oysters, momiji manju, juice, and other treats. They browsed the souvenir shops and, although they did not buy anything in particular, they had a good time.
Since they were heading to Osaka, we returned to the station early, and I helped them collect their stored luggage and exchange money before seeing them off. I was glad they were able to spend an enjoyable time without any trouble.

Hello. I am Miyuki. I was born and raised in Hiroshima. I love my hometown and l am very excited to show you around this beautiful city Hiroshima soon.
Hiroshima is a nice city with a great nature, nice food and significant history.
The city is surrounded by mountains, close to the Seto Inland Sea and rivers, the public transportation is well-developed and convenient. You can see the streetcar running. It has been running since before the atomic-bombing. You can see a lot of relics of war here.
Today, Hiroshima is known as the city of International Peace and Culture.
Many people from all over the world are visiting here to see the city as it is now and learn about the history. The city has been delivering peace message to the world. I hope this tour will be a good opportunity for you to think about peace and our brilliant future.
One of the fun parts in traveling is eating local dishes.
You will be attracted by a lot of delicious food here. We are blessed with good seafood such as oysters, small sardines, congereels, other fresh fish.
The local cuisine Okonomiyaki is my recommendation. It became popular during the rice shortage after the war.
Now,it is a very famous local dish here which is loved by everyone. Why don’t you try?
If you enjoy drinking alcohol, why don’t you try Sake (rice wine) in Hiroshima? Hiroshima is one of the three famous regions for Sake production.
There is another popular local food “Momiji-manju “(Maple-leaf shaped cake). The soft cake is baked in a shape of the maple-leaf and has your favorite filling inside. There are various kinds of fillings that you can choose such as custard, chocolate, green tea, cheese, traditional red beans paste, and so on. It is fun to choose and taste. There is the arranged, deep-fried cake as well which is very popular among the tourists. It’s nice and cute.
I am enjoying seeing many people around the world through this tour every time. I like to talk and learn about your country. Please talk to me a lot. I like traveling,mountain-climbing, jogging, cooking and eating.
I love animals and nature. I’m a big cat lover. I have four cats at home. It will be nice if you share the picture of your pet, if you have. I’m happy with that.
I will do my best for you to enjoy fully in Hiroshima. Let’s have fun and make a great day together.
I look forward to seeing you.
Thank you.

Incredible Tour Guide Experience!
Tripadvisor review: Hiroshima / Miyajima Full-day Private Tour with Government Licensed Guide
We weren’t sure what to expect with a private guided tour but we were absolutely blow away with our guide Miyuki’s friendliness and knowledge! She helped us straight from Hiroshima train station and the knowledge we gained from her with something as simple as just transport helped us the rest of our trip. She guided us to Miyajima island and explained to us the shrines, and also took us up to another shrine and temple we would never of even knew of if we were by ourselves! She took us to a delightful lunch place, and then we made our way to Hiroshima Peace Memorial and she showed us around various bits there and also explained very well. It was an incredible day and one of our favourites in Japan!
She was also an incredible photographer for us too! And recommended a great dinner place too after the tour. Thank you Miyuki!🫶🏼🫶🏼🥰🥰
