Tour Itinerary in Detail
Meeting at @Conrad at 9:00, the group explored Tokyo until the tour ended at 13:20. The day ran to 4 hours and 20 minutes from start to finish.
The itinerary covered Asakusa at 9:30, Nijubashi Bridge at 11:00 and Meiji Shrine, Yoyogi Park at 12:00.
Travel between the sites was by public transport: Shimbashi to Asakusa by subway (220JPY); Asakusa to Kanda by subway (180JPY); Kanda to Tokyo by train (170JPY); Nijubashimae to Meiji-jingumae by subway (210JPY). Across 4 sections the fare came to 780JPY per person.

The guests were visitors from North America. At their request, I guided them around Asakusa, the Imperial Palace, and Meiji Shrine. They seemed to have studied a great deal about Japan beforehand, asked many questions, and listened attentively to what I had to say. At Asakusa, I explained the difference between Buddhism and Shinto, and as we moved from the historically older part of town to the newer areas, I also talked about the history. At Tokyo Station, I showed them where to board the Shinkansen. The guests especially loved the tranquility of Meiji Shrine.
Toward the end, since the cherry blossoms had mostly turned to leaves and only one tree was still blooming beautifully, I asked whether they would like to go see the blossoms. They said they would be happy just to see even a single tree, so I took them to see the Kawazu cherry blossoms in Yoyogi Park. Since the guests were scheduled to return home before the Somei-Yoshino cherry blossoms bloomed, I was glad they were so pleased.
I accompanied them to Harajuku Station, explained how to get to Shibuya, and we parted ways. They told me they would be traveling on to Hakone and Kyoto next.

Tokyo Walking Tour
We did a six-hour walking tour of Tokyo with Yoko and she was an exceptional guide. We saw multiple shrines (Meiji Shrine is a must see), the Imperial Palace, the “crossing” (there is a similar intersection in the Ginza shopping district which was also cool), the Tokyo Station, and the outer market where we ordered some fatty toro nigiri which was an etherial experience. Can’t say enough good things about Yoko. She taught ys a ton about the history of Japan and had a great sense of humor. A+

Fantastic day exploring Tokyo
This was our first time visiting Tokyo and spending a day with Yoko as our guide was perhaps the best decision we could have made. Even before we arrived we traded messages with Yoko about what we might like to do. She offered valuable tips which made not only our time in Tokyo more efficient but while in Japan as a whole. We saw so many amazing things but Yoko also gave us a primer in using the Tokyo subway system and navigating some of the stations. I could go on and list all the things we did but each tour will be different. However I would highly recommend Yoko as a guide. Perhaps serendipitous, but we were stopped on the street the day after we toured with Yoko by a couple who had a list of things to do but was unsure how to go about doing the things on their list and where those things were located. I was thankful we chose the best guide so we didn’t have that problem.
