What Can You See on a Private Walking Tour of Tokyo's Old Town and Imperial Palace East Gardens? A Licensed Guide's Report

Since it was the guests' second day in Tokyo, I asked in the morning what they had done the previous day, and learned that they had not visited the Imperial Palace East Gardens. So I adjusted the itinerary, dropped Akihabara, and added the Imperial Palace East Gardens. One of the guests walked slowly, but they managed to walk all the way from Nippori through Yanaka Cemetery to the grave of Tokugawa Yoshinobu and on to Nezu Shrine, as well as through the Imperial Palace East Gardens. The final slope up to the hotel seemed a little difficult. The weather was fine all day, and the guests were pleased that it was warm. At the Imperial Palace East Gardens, several cherry trees were in full bloom, and the guests enjoyed the Japanese garden as well. We ended up touring sights connected to Ueno Toshogu Shrine, the grave of Tokugawa Yoshinobu, Nezu Shrine, Edo Castle, the Tokugawa shogunate, and the Edo period, and the guests seemed genuinely interested.
