What Is a Private Kyoto Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Kodaiji and the Philosopher's Path

The guests were visiting Japan for the first time from North America. It was their first family trip together in a while. Since I myself had once undergone two weeks of training in North America, the place brought back fond memories. All of the guests listened attentively and responded well to my explanations. The tour had originally been planned for an earlier date, but at the guests' request we shifted it to avoid a snowy day, which turned out to be the right decision. The weather during the tour was mild, warm enough that gloves were not even necessary. Around Kodaiji Temple, there were many foreign tourists sitting in front of shops and on the steps taking photos. Many of them appeared to be from Asia. After Kodaiji Temple and Entokuin, we had planned to visit Nanzenji Temple, but since one of the guests seemed tired, possibly due to jet lag, we skipped Nanzenji and headed to the Philosopher's Path instead. Afterward, we shared a taxi back to the Hotel, and the tour came to an end. The photo was taken in the bamboo grove within Kodaiji Temple.
