The itinerary covered Fushimi Inari at 9:25, Arashiyama Bamboo Grove at 11:10, Gion Area at 13:50, Kiyomizu-dera Temple at 14:30 and Tour End at 15:30.
Travel between the sites was by public transport: Sanjo to Fushimi Inari by train (220JPY); Inari to Saga-Arashiyama by train (240JPY); Randen Arashiyama to Shijo-Omiya by train (250JPY); Shijo-Omiya to Kawaramachi by train (170JPY). Across 4 sections the fare came to 880JPY per person.
What Is a Private Day Tour of Kyoto Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests were visitors from Asia. Arranging lunch had taken some time up until the day before. At first they considered a Japanese set-meal restaurant, then a ramen shop, but no reservation was available. I suggested a sushi restaurant instead, but since one of the guests had recently gotten sick from raw fish, we finally settled on a tonkatsu restaurant in Gion, where I was able to make a reservation. The restaurant had seating for only about ten people, so I was glad we had reserved in advance. The wind was a little cool, but it was not very cold. The guests did not take many photos themselves, so I often offered to take pictures for them. The photos were taken at the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove.

I was born and grew up in Kyoto and now live near Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto. I used to be a schoolteacher of English and welcome a lot of students from foreign countries. I really enjoyed showing them around Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, Himeji, and Hiroshima. I have been a professional tour guide for about 8 years. I always try to let my guests learn Japanese traditional and modern culture. Since I was born in Kyoto, I know a lot about its culture and people. I myself enjoyed several sports, such as soccer, judo, and marathon when I was young. I’m much interested in baseball and sumo. Kazua Sumi is a very accomplished guide.He has deep knowledge about the history and culture of Japan. He is flexible and accommodates changes if you so desire. He is also very empathetic. I had a sprained back and he ensured we took elevators everywhere. You will be lucky if he is assigned as your guide .

My friend and I had a great experience on the tour. We travelled all around Kyoto with our guide Kazuo Sumi. He is a sweet older gentleman who had a great depth of knowledge about each place we went to. We told him places we wanted to go and he made the itinerary for us. There is no one better to have as your guide!!
