- 9:30 Meet @ Hotel Premier Kyoto Ekimae
- 9:50-9:55 Kyoto – Inari 150 yen JR
- 10:00-11:00 Fushimi Inari Taisha sightseeing
- 11:08-11:44 Inari → Saga-Arashiyama 240 yen JR
- Stroll through the Bamboo Grove Path・Tenryu-ji・Kimono Forest・Togetsukyo Bridge
- 13:30 Lunch @ Arashiyama Yoshimura (after being shown to our seats and ordering, we'll excuse ourselves)
What Is a Private Fushimi Inari and Arashiyama Tour in Kyoto Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
I guided a group visiting from North America. The full party was divided into smaller groups, and I was in charge of one of them, whose itinerary covered Fushimi Inari and Arashiyama. We first visited Fushimi Inari to see the thousands of torii gates, then moved on to Arashiyama, where we visited Tenryu-ji Temple. When I explained the characteristics of the Japanese garden and the philosophy of Zen, the guests listened attentively. One of the guests had lived in Japan for some time and was fluent in Japanese, and while I was explaining Daruma dolls, they said, "That's 'nanakorobi yaoki' (fall seven times, get up eight), isn't it?" This surprised me and lightened the mood in a friendly way. Next we strolled along the Bamboo Grove path, then enjoyed the colorful displays at the Kimono Forest, where the guests took many photographs. At the Togetsukyo Bridge, we admired the lush natural scenery of Arashiyama. For lunch, the guests requested soba, so I took them to a nearby soba restaurant in Arashiyama.

Andy(Atsushi) was great and communicated with us beforehand about our itinerary. He was flexible with changes we requested. Andy was very informative during the tour. He also was willing to take our family’s pictures. We were able to stop and check out shops as we pleased along the way. He also accommodated lunch requests(as our daughter has food allergies).
One thing I wish we realized was that there is quite a bit of walking. We were fine but for people who are perhaps older or with young children you may want to consider taking a cab between different sites.

Andy Murao was an amazing and wonderful tour guide. He reached out to us with some ideas for our private tour. He worked with us as we made the tour perfectly suited to our needs. He met us on time. He navigated the crowds and the sites perfectly. He was very knowledgeable and we learned a lot. He even put together a nice photo collection of photos he emailed us after. Highly recommend.
