Title: What's a Private Day Tour of Kyoto Like Before a Kimono and Tea Ceremony? A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests were a group visiting Japan for the first time from North America. After traveling through Tokyo, Niigata, and Kanazawa, they arrived in Kyoto today and planned to stay until the end of the month. Since they had booked a kimono and tea ceremony experience at a studio in Gion starting at 16:00 on this first day, I selected a relatively nearby, representative course covering Kyoto's highlights. They had been weary of the poor weather along the Sea of Japan side in Niigata and Kanazawa, so they thoroughly enjoyed walking under the clear skies for the first time in a while. Since their stay in Kyoto was short this time, they said they would love to return again, and they asked many questions about places to visit in Kyoto and the surrounding areas. There were no particular issues, and the tour concluded as planned at the tea ceremony venue.

Great walking tour in Kyoto!
Shoji was a great guide around Kyoto. Even in the rain we were able to visit the shrines/temples we wanted to see. We wished we had started earlier as we would have linke to have seen other things off the beaten path. We ended in Gion and were able to walk around the area. Shoji brought a wealth of knowledge about the area and Japanese culture.

In just six hours, he managed to give us an incredibly rich and insightful experience. We had such a wonderful tour of Nara with our tour guide Shoji. He was very knowledgeable and taught us so much about Japanese history. He was extremely flexible and helped us create the best tour for us. We wouldn’t have had near the positive experience or seen as many locations if we had tried to do the tour on our own. I recommend this tour and guide to anyone wanting to experience Nara.
