What Is a Private Kyoto Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Kiyomizu, Nishiki Market, and Kinkaku-ji

The guests were visitors from Asia. They contacted me in advance to ask if we could delay our start by 30 minutes because of severe jet lag. The guests were very interested in kimono fabric, and at a shop near Kiyomizu-dera that makes various small goods from kimono fabric, they purchased a bag and several other items. They also looked carefully at a Kyoto-ware (Kiyomizu-yaki) shop, but did not buy anything there. At Zuikou-gama near Yasaka Pagoda, they booked a pottery-making experience for the 25th, and at the Yasaka roof-tile workshop next to Yasaka Koshin-do, they bought aroma goods made from roof-tile material. At Nishiki Market they enjoyed grilled shrimp, fresh oysters, chu-toro sushi, yakisoba, and skewered Kobe beef, and were very satisfied. Because they took their time enjoying each spot, we arrived at Kinkaku-ji just 10 minutes before closing, but there were still many tourists coming in. The temple grounds themselves were, as expected, quiet, and we were able to walk around at a relaxed pace. Since we were running late, we could not visit Marukyu Koyamaen as it had already closed for the day. One of the guests expressed a wish to create products in collaboration with kimono fabric, and asked me to introduce a high-end kimono shop. Following the driver's suggestion, we stopped by Kondaya Genbei, one of Kyoto's leading kimono brands. When I conveyed this wish to the staff, they explained that the owner was out and asked that a proposal be emailed to the owner. The staff mentioned that they receive quite a number of such inquiries, and that if the owner shows interest, there is a possibility of further discussion.

I’m Ryoichi Kazuma and my nickname is “Kazz”. I live in Kyotanabe city next to Kyoto city. I want guests to enjoy Kyoto by seeing and experiencing not only from outside but also from inside. I offer various information from daily matters to traditional cultures. Most destinations in Kyoto are located on the eastern side or the western side. As I want to guide guests to as many destinations as possible, I make an efficient itinerary and recommend a taxi use to save time. Additionally, I take pictures at various spots and finally share the link to my storage. By doing so, guests can download their favorite pictures from my storage. Please enjoy Kyoto night and day!
