Over the course of the day the route took in Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine at 9:40, Nijo Castle at 11:20, Tonkatsu Katsurai Kinkaku-ji Branch at 13:40, Kinkaku-ji Temple at 14:20 and Kyoto Station Disband at 16:05.
Travel between the sites was by public transport: Kyoto to Inari by train (150JPY); Fushimi Inari to Sanjo by train (220JPY); Sanjo Keihan to Nijojo-mae by subway (220JPY); Nijojo-mae to Kinkakuji-michi by bus (230JPY); Kinkakuji-michi to Kitaoji Bus Terminal by bus (230JPY); Kitaoji to Kyoto by subway (260JPY). Today I guided a group visiting from Oceania, and it was their first time in Japan. At Fushimi Inari Taisha, I was surprised by the very large number of school-trip students, but the guests enjoyed spotting the fox statues. They were also amazed by the carp in the pond of the Nijo Castle garden. They were delighted to purchase souvenirs such as beautiful origami and toy swords. At Kinkaku-ji, there was a light drizzle, but one of the guests, who loves photography, took many pictures and seemed to have a wonderful time.

We spent half a day with Kaeko Tanigawa taking us to Daitoku-ji and Kinkaku-ji temples and Nijo castle in Kyoto. She is very nice, customer-oriented and knowledgeable about Japanese culture and history.

Kaeko Tanigawa was fantastic at helping us create a tour that worked for our family with two young children. It was a very hot day, but the air conditioned van was perfect. We loved making ramen together, feeding monkeys, and seeing a few top sites of Kyoto.

Kyoto Private Tour
Kaeko was absolutely amazing from start to finish, and my husband and I had the best time with her during our honeymoon in Kyoto in April! She reached out well before our trip to get to know our interests and carefully planned an itinerary that was perfectly tailored to us—even helping us choose the perfect lunch spot.
