Tour Itinerary in Detail
Meeting at Hotel at 9:00, the group explored Gifu until the tour ended at 13:00. The day ran to 4 hours from start to finish.
The itinerary covered Kokubunji Temple at 9:10, Miyagawa Morning Market at 9:35, Yatai Kaikan at 10:30, Sakurayama Hachimangu Shrine at 11:00, Nikko Hall at 11:30 and Kusakabe Folk Art Museum at 12:10.
Although the booking form listed a 9:30 meeting at a hotel, through email correspondence after the reservation the meeting was changed to 9:00 at a hotel. Since the guests had told me their preferred destinations in advance, I took them to the Miyagawa Morning Market, the Yatai Kaikan (Festival Floats Exhibition Hall), and the Kusakabe Folk Museum. During the tour we happened to see local people making offerings at the Akiba shrine, and we were also able to watch a shrine maiden's dance. Some of the guests enjoyed photography as a hobby and delighted in the fresh green scenery of Takayama. As some of the guests were also interested in woodblock prints, I introduced an antique shop that we did not have time to visit during the tour, and that evening they contacted me to say they had found a woodblock print.

Our morning tour around the old centre of Takayama with Annie was excellent. She is a great guide, and whilst we had selected the places we wanted to visit, she organised the route so that we would see as much as possible in the time allowed. Very friendly and extremely informative .
