Tour Itinerary
- AM 9:30 Hotel Vista Kanazawa Tour Start (Originally planned to participate with 2 people, but the son came down with a cold. Only the father participated.)
- Move from Kanazawa Station to Higashi Chaya District (bus) Utasu Shrine Observe the final process of gold leaf production at Kinpaku Sakuda Visit Kazuemachi
- AM 11:30 Move to Kenrokuen-shita (bus) Visit Kenrokuen and Kanazawa Castle Park (Visit Hishi Yagura, Gojukken Nagaya, Hashizumemon Tsuzuki Yagura)
- PM 13:30 Move on foot from Kanazawa Castle Park to Nagamachi On the way, via Gyokusen'inmaru Garden, Nezumita-mon Gate, Oyama Shrine
- PM 14:00 Nagamachi area Visit Nomura Family Residence, Takada Family, Ashigaru Museum
- PM 15:00 To DAIWA Department Store (since they were looking for a samue)
- PM 15:40 Move to Kanazawa Station (bus) Tour disbands in front of the hotel
Title: What Is a Rainy-Day Private Walking Tour of Kanazawa Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
The weather forecast for the tour day called for heavy rain, so before the tour started I told the guests that, depending on the weather, we might visit the Ishikawa History Museum or the Kaga Honda Museum, and they agreed. Fortunately, the weather managed to hold until just after 1:30 PM.
Even so, while touring inside the Hishi Yagura, Gojukken Nagaya, and Hashizumemon Tsuzuki Yagura buildings of Kanazawa Castle, it began to rain quite heavily. We took shelter for about 10 minutes, and after checking the rain cloud radar, we resumed the tour once the rain had eased.
In the Nagamachi district we toured in light rain, but at the Nomura Family Residence, the Takada Family Residence, and the Ashigaru Museum the explanations took place indoors, which was helpful. It was good that the guests did not get very wet.
Finally, the guests were pleased to be able to purchase the samue work clothes they had wanted at a department store.

Incredible tour, one of the highlights of my trip!
Booking a private tour with Hideharu (Yoshi) Yoshino was easily one of the absolute highlights of my trip.
Yoshi-san customized the day perfectly to my interests, accommodating a last-minute hotel change and timing our morning perfectly so we could see the spectacular Gion Matsuri parade without the heavy crowds.
We explored Ginkaku-ji, Nanzen-ji, and the traditional streets of Gion at a wonderful, relaxed pace.
The tour was fascinating and packed with interesting details that allowed me to truly understand Kyoto’s rich history.

A Well-Organized and Informative Tour of Kanazawa
We, a family of 5, had a very enjoyable 6-hour private tour of Kanazawa with Hideharu Yoshino from Japan Guide Agency.
Communication before the tour was excellent and made it very easy to plan the day. Yoshi’s English was excellent, which made communication throughout the tour very smooth. He provided very clear and interesting explanations, giving us a better understanding of the history and culture of the places we visited.
During the tour we explored Kanazawa Castle, Kenrokuen Garden, and the Geisha and Samurai districts.
It was a well-organized and informative tour. Highly recommended.

Our tea and culture day in Kanazawa with our guide Hideharu Yoshino was amazing! Yoshi is very fluent in English and a great companion to walk around with as he knows so much about the history and culture of Kanazawa and Japan. He also knew the best place to grab lunch and helped us pick what was good local fish, curry or tea to try. Plus he made sure we felt comfortable and never out of place wherever we went. I would recommend him for anyone who likes to know more about what they are seeing or what they can do in the area. Yoshi is great!
