Aichi prefecture is my hometown and famous for the area where samurai culture once flourished. This area has produced many talented individuals, including Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Tokugawa Ieyasu as Samurai heroes. Not only those samurai heroes but also those who are creatively established the companies called Toyota, Sonny and so on. As for Samurai culture, Oda Nobunaga is one of the most famous samurai who tried to unite Japan 400 yeas ago. He was born and raised in Aichi and fought against feudal lords, daimyo, whose regions were close to this area, Owari district. The reason Nobunaga took over the land held by neighboring daimyo was to ultimately unify Japan. After his assassination, his successor, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who is a subordinate of Nobunaga, succeeded what Nobunaga wanted to do. The last person who eventually established a samurai government and ruled Japan as ShogunI is Tokugawa Ieyasu. His government lasted for more than 270 years. One of the spot I can really recommend you is Nagoya castle. This castle was constructed 400 years ago by Tokugawa Ieyasu, who became the first Shogun of Tokugawa government. Unfortunately, the castle was burnt down during the WWII but we reconstructed Honmaru Palace, where the castle masters of Nagoya used to live . The palace was reconstructed as authentic as possible by using many materials such as drawings, documents, and photographs that have survived to this day, so this castle actually was once designated as a national treasure. You will see the palace of 17th century which impress you as one of your memoirs of trip to Japan. I can surely introduce you any kind of traditional Japanese culture including samurai castles, old streets, traditional housing, as well as modern cultures like anime and whatever you want. I am really happy to show you authentic Japanese traditional culture peculiar to this aria, Aichi, Gifu and Mie prefectures. I am sure you will have a great time.
