What Is a Private Himeji Castle Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests were traveling through Japan and stopped in Himeji for sightseeing on their way to Okayama. It was their first visit to Japan, and although there was a little nervousness beforehand, the guests seemed to truly enjoy their first experience of Japan, which made me happy as well. Both showed great interest in the exhibits inside the castle, and we had a very enjoyable time going around. At Koko-en Garden, after I introduced the plant that the Chinese windmill butterfly feeds on, we happened to encounter one flying nearby and were able to take photos of it, which delighted the guests very much.

Our guide Chiyuki was the best part of the trip. Super earnest, so generous with her knowledge of the history and culture. The tour had a lot to cover, from the sake making area to the Kobe Herb Garden Ropeway on the opposite side of the city, all in one afternoon. Miles to cover but never once did we feel rushed. We had lovely conversations along the way and tons of pictures to take home. Last but not least, when we requested for her recommendations of Kobe beef places, she pointed us to a top notch Kobe Beef Teppanyaki option – while prudently ensuring it was a value for money experience. You are the best Chiyuki – grateful for your hospitality and gracious hosting.

After getting off to a rocky start our guide was wonderful! She took us to the Herb Gardens
which was fabulous and the for a Kibe beef lunch, then toured Chinatown and did some
