Title: What Is a Private Tokyo Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Meiji Shrine and Asakusa

The guests were a group visiting from Europe. When we started walking along the approach to Meiji Shrine, the rain was coming and going, but after that the rain stopped in Asakusa and it only sprinkled occasionally, making for cool weather. They mentioned that back home the temperature was already around 5 degrees Celsius, so they said this felt "warm." Since it is always windy where they come from and umbrellas cannot be used, they had not brought any, so we bought some at a convenience store along the way. The guests asked many questions and listened attentively and openly to the explanations. They were traveling during an autumn school break, on an 8-day trip in total, and planned to head to Kyoto after Tokyo. After this tour, they had a reservation at teamLab Planets in the evening and were looking forward to it. They also planned to visit Ginza in the coming days, so I gave a few recommendations on shops. When we parted, they thanked me warmly, saying they had a wonderful time and learned a great deal.

Hello, I’m Masaaki Kurata. I have been conducting walking tours in Asakusa, Ueno, Yanaka and the East Garden of Imperial Palace since I joined an English guide volunteer club in 2016. I worked for 2 U.S. based companies in Tokyo for 41 years and retired in 2023. I developed good communication skills with people from other countries in my long career in those 2 companies. I was born in the suburb of Tokyo and I’m familiar with Tokyo pretty much. Since I retired and do not work for a company any longer, I can be flexible in making itineraries. I really want to make tourists happy by making fun and interesting communication.
