What Is a Private Tokyo Walking Tour of Asakusa and Zojoji Temple Like? A Licensed Guide's Report

The guests were visiting from North America. They were very friendly and it was their first time in Japan, and in Asakusa they were curious about all kinds of things. They very much enjoyed everything they saw and heard, including religion (Shinto and Buddhism) and history (the Edo period). At Zojoji Temple, they listened intently to stories about its connection with the Tokugawa family, the Grant Pine, the tree planted by President Bush, the Jizo statues, and the Sangedatsumon Gate. At the Kyu-Shiba-rikyu Garden they were truly amazed by its beauty. It happened to be evening, and with a breeze picking up, our talk about the garden (its differences from Kyoto) and the rare tidal pond made for a wonderful conclusion. Unlike the previous day, it was a midsummer's day, and they walked a great deal in the heat. They were delighted, saying it had been a day full of learning and that they had a wonderful time, which made me happy too. Tomorrow they plan to visit Mount Fuji (unfortunately rain is forecast), and after that they will go on a cruise around Japan. I hope they have a wonderful trip.
