What Is a Private Tour of Miyajima and Hiroshima Like? A Licensed Guide's Report

[Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) guide led a private tour for guests visiting from North America. When I explained the history in front of a model of the torii gate, the guests listened very attentively. They also stopped at a shop selling character goods and were especially interested in the works of Hayao Miyazaki. They reacted strongly to a No-Face figure, which made me feel a difference between generations.

The guests were also interested in cars, and on the way to Daisho-in Temple, they took photos whenever they spotted an unusual vehicle. They had apparently planned to visit the Mazda Museum, but when I told them that a reservation was required for a tour, they were very disappointed.

After the tour, they planned to take the ropeway up Mount Misen, and they were also looking forward to attending the Mando-e and Miyajima Candle Festival held at Daisho-in Temple from 6:00 in the evening. In addition, since they planned to visit the Peace Park and museum the next day, I explained about those places at a coffee shop.

One of the guests was studying physics and gave me a detailed explanation of the difference between plutonium and uranium atomic bombs and the principles of their explosions, so I actually learned a great deal from them.
