What Is a Private Himeji Castle Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report

Today's guests were first-time visitors to Japan from North America. I had obtained information about their bullet train arrival in Himeji in advance, so we met at the bullet train ticket gate and started the tour earlier than planned. First, we purchased some drinking water at the convenience store on the first floor, obtained a Spanish-language brochure at the tourist information center, and then visited Castle View, Himeji Castle, and Koko-en Garden, ending the tour in front of a souvenir shop in Himeji.

The guests were especially keen on photography, and when asking me to take photos, they made detailed requests about composition. It was also quite a hot day. The guests took many photos and it took a lot of time, and I felt on the verge of heatstroke, but I managed the tour while drinking sports drinks.

The guests had come to Himeji from Kyoto that day, and were planning to travel on to Tokyo via Kyoto. At the end of the tour they thanked me warmly, so I believe they were satisfied with today's tour.

Hello, my name is Norio Oki, a Government-Certified Tour Guide in Japan.
