Over the course of the day the route took in Miyajima at 9:00, Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum at 13:00 and Atomic Bomb Dome at 14:30.
Travel between the sites was by public transport: Hiroshima Station to Miyajimaguchi Station by train (420JPY); Miyajimaguchi Station to Nishi-Hiroshima Station by train (330JPY); Nishi-Hiroshima Station to Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park by bus (220JPY). The guests were a group of four visiting from North America. Due to a medical emergency, the train was delayed by about ten minutes, but on the platform we started the tour smoothly by chatting about topics such as the local Carp baseball team.
On the ferry boat, the conversation turned to the U.S. military base in Iwakuni, and one of the guests asked whether U.S. military bases are still necessary in Japan. As this is a very delicate issue, I simply answered that people hold different views depending on their perspective.
In the shopping arcade, a calligraphy performance was taking place, and I thought it might be a good opportunity to explain Japanese culture through calligraphy, so I gave it a try. I attempted to explain that Japanese people seek to perfect their ideal selves through their respective arts and skills, that this is called a "do" (a path or way), and that it is cherished and passed down to the next generation. However, an "insufficient expressive power crisis alarm" went off in my head, so I decided to stop there.

Originally, I’m a cycling guide doing cycling tours all over Japan.
But, already done Hiroshima & Miyajima tour more than 400 times.
I traveled many countries in my younger days. I traveled Europe, US, China, India, US, Mexico, Peru Australia, NZ, and so on.
I decided to use this experience to become a guide.
I’m afraid but no tipping required, because cycling guides are not allowed to have tipping in my association. And you do not need to pay for my lunch, because my lunch is prepared by our group.

My wife & I spent a fabulous day with Yuji visiting Miyajima & Hiroshima.. From his greeting to us on our arrival at Hiroshima station to saying good-bye at the same location 8 hours later, he gave us wonderful perspectives of both locations as well as sharing his knowledge of the sights we saw.

Incredible Experience
We had an incredible experience visiting Hiroshima and Miyajima for the first time. Our tour guide, Yuji, made the experience one we will never forget. From start to finish the trip was thoroughly enjoyable. He was very knowledgeable explaining meaning, symbolism, answering questions and went above and beyond to give us the best experience. Yuji really tailored the tour to things we found interesting and made transport with trains and the ferry very easy to navigate- as we did a day trip from Osaka. My husband and I were very fortunate to have Yuji as our guide. Highly recommend this private tour if you are considering Hiroshima and Miyajima!
